Lou Reed Named Keynote Speaker of SXSW
The South by Southwest Music Conference has convinced Lou Reed to be its keynote speaker this year. The former Velvet Underground frontman will discuss his career on March 13 before a screening of the Julian Schnabel (Basquiat, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) film "Lou Reed's 'Berlin.'"Other confirmed SxSW speakers include Thurston Moore, Sire Records founder Seymour Stein, Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates, and minimalist composer Steve Reich. Last year's central address was delivered by none other than Pete Townshend.
