Jay-Z Close to Sealing Apple Deal
When Jay-Z left his post as president of Def Jam last week, he apparently wasn't kidding when he said, "It's time for me to take on new challenges." If a rumor mill story from The Boy Genius Report is to be believed, the rapper is in the midst of finalizing a business deal with Apple. The computer company is apparently considering the launch of a record label in tandem with the continued success of iTunes.Jay-Z still owes Def Jam two albums, though, so his role in the label would likely be on the A&R or consulting side. Whatever happens, something's-a-stirring, so stay tuned to this spot for more news on Apple's quiet takeover of the music industry.
