No ex-Beatle needs an introduction—or to make another record ever again—but that hasn't stopped any of the fab four from exercising their creative birthright beyond their halcyon days together. Now, in what could be an easy fade-out into retirement, the remaining Beatles are more creative than ever, with last year's release of Paul McCartney's Memory Almost Full and now, Ringo Starr's ode to peace, love, the good ol' days and, of course, Liverpool in his latest solo album, Liverpool 8. So, as part of the album's nationwide promo tour, Ringo stopped by to a packed house at Los Angeles' House of Blues on the Sunset Strip to delight fans with some of the tracks form his new album, and of course, some fan favorites from that other band he used to be in.

The album is named for the nickname of the postcode where Ringo lived growing up in his hometown, and acts as an autobiographical homage to the past that got him where he is now. With nostalgia on his mind, Ringo quipped with the audience, "Some of you probably know more about my life than I do, because... well, I was somewhere else." Witty, gracious and full of energy, Ringo entered the stage with Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), who was Ringo's right-hand axe-man while recording the album, to do a quick interview before the rest of the band joined them on stage.

It was a short and sweet set of four songs, just to tease the audience (or maybe to get them to buy the album). But, Beatles fans were in luck when Ringo jumped behind his drumkit for his rendition of "Boys," which Ringo claims he's been singing, "since before I was in the Beatles." And, as if in a nod to all those who came to support him, Ringo finished things off with his Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band cut, "A Little Help From My Friends." He then politely and lovingly exited the stage with a flourish of peace signs for his loyal crowd.
