Jimmy Page Refutes Led Zeppelin Rumors

Jimmy Page discredited any chances of a summer Led Zeppelin tour at a Tokyo press conference earlier today, blaming the decision on several factors and simply saying, "I can't give you any news on anything at the moment." For one thing, Robert Plant is busy supporting his Raising Sand record with Alison Krauss until at least September. And then there's the issue of the band's pride when it comes to preparing for a world tour.

"We'd all agreed to take it very, very seriously and have a really good time at the same time," the guitarist said, referring to the band's reunion gig on December 10 in London's 02 Arena. "We worked out the songs we were going to play, and it was exhilarating, it was fantastic. Every week was a week to look forward to."

When asked whether fans need to buy the band's recent Mothership collection, he added, "Please don't—I don't want you to buy it. The overall packaging [in the Early Days/Latter Days compilations] just did not have the quality of what we expect from Led Zeppelin and what I think everyone else expects from Led Zeppelin. It just made sense to have something done so we don't have to think about it again."
