Dave Clark Five Frontman Passes Away
Mike Smith, the lead vocalist/keyboardist of the Dave Clark Five, died of pneumonia complications on Thursday. He was 64. Smith has suffered numerous health problems since 2003, when a spinal chord injury left him paralyzed from the waist down. He was last admitted to a hospital earlier this week for a chest infection that eventually grew into pneumonia. The Dave Clark Five will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10. At one point, they were actually up against the Beatles for being one of the most popular British invasion bands thanks to such songs as "I Like It Like That," "Glad All Over," and "Any Way You Want It."
