Mick Jagger Narrowly Escapes Murder Plot

A new BBC documentary has uncovered some rather salacious facts about Mick Jagger; namely that he was the focus of an assassination attempt by Hells Angels members in 1969. Detailed in today's "The FBI at 100" doc on Radio 4, the plot—set in motion by the Stones' infamous Altamont concert, which was marred by the Hells Angels' murder of an 18 year old—was apparently derailed when a storm got in the way.

"The Hells Angels were so angered by Jagger's treatment of them [in the press after Altamont] that they decided to kill him," Tom Mangold, the host of the "FBI" series, said to Britain's Sunday Telegraph newspaper. "They planned the attack from the sea so they could enter his property from the garden and avoid security at the front. The boat was hit by a storm and all of the men were thrown overboard. All survived and there was not said to have been any further attempt on Jagger's life."
