Drummer Ola Brunkert, one of only two people to play on all of ABBA's albums, has died in a freak accident at his home on the Spanish island of Mallorca. According to police reports, Brunkert fell through a glass door in his dining room, effectively cutting his own throat and causing him to lose consciousness. Published reports also said a neighbor found the musician's body in the garden outside his home on Sunday evening. An autopsy later confirmed the 62 year old had sustained major neck cuts and died accidentally.

"I remember him as a good friend when we worked together in the mid-1970s," ABBA cofounder Björn Ulvaeus said to the Swedish newspaper Expressen. "He was a very creative musician who contributed a lot when we toured together and worked in the studio."

Brunkert got his start in the 1960's as a jazz drummer in a band called Slim's Blues Gang, as well as the pop act Science Poption. He then moved into session work and ABBA's first single, "People Need Love." Afterward, Brunkert and bassist Rutger Gunnarsson held together ABBA's rhythm section on all studio albums and tours throughout 1977, 1979 and 1980.
