    Tom Petty Reboots Pre-Heartbreakers Band

    Tom Petty has announced his first-ever album with the pre-Heartbreakers band Mudcrutch. The self-titled disc is due out on April 29 through Reprise and will be prefaced by a brief tour, running from April 12 in Malibu to several late April stops in West Hollywood. This is in addition to Petty's already announced North American summer tour with the Heartbreakers, which starts on May 30 in Grand Rapids, MI, with Steve Winwood as its supporting act.

    Mudcrutch consists of Petty, Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont Tench, along with Tom Leadon and Randall Marsh. Their only previous songs together surfaced on a Petty box set, 1995's Playback.
