Richie Sambora Arrested On Suspicion of DUI

Southern California police arrested Richie Sambora on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol on Tuesday night in the seaside town of Laguna Beach. The Bon Jovi guitarist could also face child endangerment charges for having two minors in his black Hummer at the time of his arrest.

"He was stopped for lane-straddling and weaving in lanes," Laguna Beach police spokesman Sgt. Jason Kravetz said in a statement. "The officer who contacted him smelled alcohol, got him out of the vehicle and performed a field sobriety test."

The longtime Laguna Beach resident was apparently "very cooperative" with officers, agreeing to a sobriety test—which he failed—when he was taken into custody around 11 p.m. Sambora was released on his own recognizance at 4 a.m. Wednesday morning and is set to appear in court on May 7. Police are not releasing the names of the minors in Sambora's vehicle, but it is known that he has a 10-year-old daughter with actress Heather Locklear. Sambora also spent time in rehab twice in 2007.

"At this point we're waiting for the blood test results," Kravetz said. "There is a possibility we will seek additional charges if, after speaking with the District Attorney's office, we feel the children were endangered."
