Take that, Facebook!
MySpace Preps Digital Music Service
Three of the music industry's four major labels—Sony BMG, Universal and Warner—have signed a deal with MySpace, unleashing their back catalogues on the long-rumored MySpace Music. The online store will sell digital downloads, stream ad-supported songs and videos, and provide links to places where you can buy concert tickets and other music-related products. EMI has passed on the service for now, but MySpace still claims it will have "the most comprehensize catalogue of music content available online."A launch is expected in the coming months, just in time to compete with Facebook's recently-launched iLike partnership with iTunes.
