Bobby Brown Book Blames Whitney For Drug Problems
The fallout from Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston's 15-year marriage has just taken a nasty turn. According to the New York Post, Brown's autobiography (Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But, due out next month) contains quite a few lurid details about the pair's rocky relationship including claims that Houston introduced the R&B singer to hard drugs, not the other way around."I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney," Brown reportedly writes. "Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice. At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably. I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine."
Among the book's other revelations is Brown's theory that Houston wanted to get married and have kids to clean up her image due to rumors that she had a lesbian affair with her assistant.
"Since she was the American Sweetheart and all, that didn't go too well with her image," Brown writes. "In Whitney's situation, the only solution was to get married and have kids. That would kill all speculation, whether it was true or not. In the short, I think I got caught up in the politics and ended up marrying one of the biggest stars in the world."
Houston's spokeswoman, Nancy Seltzer, declined to comment on any of the book's specifics but said in a statement, "Miss Houston is sad that Bobby feels he needs to say such things, but she chooses to take the high road and will not speak badly about the father of her child, even if it's to set the record straight."
To be fair, Brown admits he's also to blame for the couple's breakup last year. "I am guilty of sleeping with other women," he writes. "Women are always throwing themselves at you. I'm only human, so I would make the mistake and bite the hook sometimes ... I let the testosterone take over."
