The Notwist Returns With First LP in Six Years
After nearly six years of side projects such as Lali Puna, 13 & God and Ms. John Soda, the four members of the Notwist have finally reunited for You, Devil + Me, their first full-length since 2002's Neon Golden. According to founding member Markus Acher, the album was both an extension of the group's other work and the product of personal issues."When we started with this Notwist record, there were a lot of ideas from the 13 & God recordings," Acher told Billboard.com. "But we don't want every band to sound the same, so we have to think what is different with the Notwist, and the reasons why we should make a record." As for the ups and downs that went into the songwriting, Acher explained, "There were friends that were very sick, or struggled with bad things in their lives; they were a part of our lives, so they had to appear in the music, in the lyrics. We've all got children, and that's also very happy. There were a lot of feelings that were much stronger this time than [when] we made Neon Golden, when things were kind of balanced."
Expect a series of European Notwist dates in May and June, along with some festival stops an a fullscale U.S. tour in October.
