Lennon LP Gets 'Classic Album' Treatment

    Fri, 25 Apr 2008 15:28:32

    On DVD

Eagle Rock Entertainment has named John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band as the latest LP in its "Classic Albums" DVD series. Due out on April 29, it features archived footage ("Mother" live at Madison Square Garden, "Instant Karma" from the BBC's "Top of the Pops," and more) and fresh interviews from Yoko Ono, Ringo Starr, and bassist Klaus Voorman, one of Lennon's longtime friends.

To give you an idea of what to expect from nearly 40 minutes of extra footage, Plastic Ono Band was recorded in the midst of Lennon's deep depression period. At the time, he was seeking "primal scream" therapy from Dr. Arthur Janov and writing such deeply personal songs as "Isolation," "God" and "My Mummy's Dead."
