    Scott Weiland Lands Jail Sentence

    Wed, 30 Apr 2008 09:06:56

More than a week in the slammer

A Los Angeles area judge has served Scott Weiland with an eight-day jail sentence, stemming from an arrest on a Los Angeles freeway ramp last November. Weiland's lawyer entered a plea of no contest to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of alcohol—his second DUI conviction in nearly four years. Aside from his prison sentence and a fine of around $1,600, Weiland was ordered into four years of unsupervised probation and an 18-month alcohol abuse program.

The Stone Temple Pilots frontman was not present for his hearing, but he will have to attend a restitution one on May 28, the day Weiland will start serving his sentence. It's unknown if Weiland's conviction will force STP to cancel some of its reunion dates (their first since 2003), which start on May 17.
