    Ugly Betty Gets "Invisible"

TV's lovable Ugly Betty, Emmy-winning Latina actress America Ferrera, has nabbed a starring role in the coming-of-age film, An Invisible Sign of My Own. Marilyn Agrelo, who directed 2005's surprise sleeper hit Mad Hot Ballroom, is on board to direct the pic, which is based on Aimee Bender's novel of the same name.

In Invisible, Ferrera will portray 20-year-old Mona Gray, a young girl who found comfort and solace in numbers and math after her father became ill and grows up to teach the subject and help her students through their own personal minefields. Ferrera will begin shooting the film shortly, sandwiching it in between Ugly Betty's aggressive production schedule, which has been pushed ahead of schedule in anticipation of a possible SAG strike.

Ferrera fans can catch the actress in this summer's sequel The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Two. Or you can always watch those Ugly Betty reruns.
