Preggers actress Nicole Kidman is due to give birth this summer, but she's still keeping busy with work. The Oscar-winning actress has signed on to produce and star in a movie based on the life of British songbird Dusty Springfield. The picture will be produced by Blossom Films, Kidman's company under the Fox umbrella.

This is not the only Springfield film currently in the works. Universal is currently developing its own version, with tiny actress Kristin Chenoweth attached to star.

Springfield's life certainly warrants enough interest for a biopic, given her prolific career as a British Invasion star in the 1960s, her drug and mental health problems and her subsequent battle with breast cancer, which eventually claimed her life in 1999. But we're fairly certain that one Springfield biopic is enough! Dueling takes on the white soul diva's life might detract from the weight of the material. May the best biopic win.
