Herzog, Lynch To Co-Direct "My Son, My Son"
Acclaimed directors Werner Herzog and David Lynch have agreed to co-direct My Son, My Son, a drama based on a true crime story. The film will be a low-budget flick that centers around a troubled San Diego man who acts out a Sophocles play in his mind and eventually kills his mother with a sword. The narrative will be told in flashbacks and will be shot in March 2009 on Coronado Island using digital video to give it a rough, edgy look. Lynch, who never shies away from compelling and eccentric material, will executive produce the project.
In other Lynch news, the filmmaker is also executive producing King Shot, a sex and violence-filled gangster film, under his Absurda production umbrella. Perennially disheveled actor Nick Nolte and shock rocker Marilyn Manson are attached to the film, which is expected to nab an NC-17 rating due to its graphic content.
