DMX Pleas Not Guilty to Several Charges

DMX arrived late to a Phoenix court yesterday, but that didn't stop a judge from entering a not guilty plea on the rapper's behalf in response to felony drug possession and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. Authorities raided DMX's (real name: Earl Simmons) Arizona home in August, finding 12 pit bulls on the premises, including some that were allegedly dehydrated and underfed. Three dogs were also discovered buried in his backyard. Simmons was indicted on 11 counts last week, including seven counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty and felony marijuana and paraphernalia possession.

No stranger to legal problems, Simmons once served 70 days in jail for posing as an undercover federal agent and crashing through a security gate at Kennedy International Airport.
