Jay-Z Joins Draft Committee
Jay-Z was one of 14 Nets reps at the NBA draft last night, which was held at the NBA Entertainment studios in Secaucus, NJ. The team was hoping for the top spot but had to settle for No. 10 instead, as well as the No. 21 pick they grabbed in a Jason Kidd deal last February."Well, we didn't go down, so that was a positive," general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said in a statement. "You have to look on the bright side. The thing about it is I do think it's a deep draft ... There are a lot of interesting players in this draft."
Jay-Z's hopes were dashed as well. According to AllHipHop.com, the rapper had this to say before the draft: "This is very exciting and I hope my nickname 'Lucky Lefty' holds up."
There's always next year, Jigga Man. Jay-Z reportedly paid for a $4.5 million stake in the Nets, making him a part-owner and major proponent of moving the team to Brooklyn.
