To play iconic Oscar Wilde character

    Ben Barnes Turns "Gray"

Hot off his role as Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, actor Ben Barnes will immediately hop to another period piece, this time portraying Dorian Gray, the main character in the big screen adaptation of Irish author Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray.

In the Gothic horror novel, published in 1890, the man-pretty Dorian Gray is the subject of a painting by artist Basil Hallward. Hallward is moved by his subject's good looks and becomes infatuated with him. Gray eventually falls in love with the idea of hedonism and begins to indulge in a variety of debaucherous and amoral pleasures and must deal with the fallout. The film will begin production this summer, with Fragile Films handling the release.

No word on if the classic novel will be updated for modern times.
