Motörhead Frontman Gets Documentary Treatment
Lemmy Kilmister, Motörhead's longtime frontman and a major N.W.O.B.H.M. (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) icon, will soon be spotlighted in a documentary tentatively titled Lemmy. Due out in 2009 (a distro deal has not yet been set), the film features intimate interviews with old and new bandmates, as well as such friends and fellow rock stars as Slash, Dave Grohl, Mick Jones of the Clash, Alice Cooper, Steve Vai, and the wrestling star Triple H."We haven't heard the word 'no' yet after any request," co-director/producer Greg Olliver told Billboard.com, adding, "Shooting Lemmy is like filming dangerous wildlife. He never does what you expect him to do, and he never does anything you want him to do. A lot of the coolest shots are shots we had to wait for four or five shows to go by before we could get them."
"You think you know who Lemmy is, but you have no idea," added Wes Orshoski, Olliver's partner in the project. "If you think you have Lemmy all figured out, trust me, you don't!"
Well, okay then. A teaser for the film can now be found at Lemmymovie.com. Motörhead can also be seen on the road this summer: first in Europe through mid-July, and then in the U.S. for some dates with Heaven & Hell.
