    After weeks of speculation, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have announced they are expecting a baby.

    "We wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child," Wentz wrote in a Web statement on Wednesday. "This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family."

    According to People.com, Simpson will now go by the name Ashlee Simpson-Wentz in the press after marrying the Fall Out Boy bassist at her parents' Los Angeles home earlier this month. The couple started dating in fall of 2006 and announced their engagement on April 9. Simpson-Wentz's rep hasn't released a statement about the baby just yet.
