Elton John Taps Jamie Lidell

While he's currently busy supporting Jim with a worldwide headlining tour, Jamie Lidell will play his biggest gigs yet at the tail end of 2008: seven opening slots for Elton John. Happening right around the holidays, the shows include a November 19 stop in Birmingham and a number of mid-December dates. According to a press release, John's "Red Piano" tour will include a "larger-than-life set" and a love theme, "symbolized by the color red and articulated through the songs and state-of-the-art effects and high-end imagery."

In other Lidell news, he'll appear on "Late Night With Conen O'Brien" next Tuesday, June 10. The singer/producer/over-the-top performer will also release the single "Another Day" in CD/12''/digital download formats on June 16.
