Ray LaMontagne Announces Third Album

Ray LaMontagne has completed his third LP, Gossip in the Grain. Due out September 9 through RCA Records, the effort features "pastoral folk, railroad blues, front porch country, and plangent balladry" according to a press release. Breaking away from the solo mold of his last two discs, LaMontagne played with a full backing band and asked Leona Naess to join him on "A Falling Through" and "I Still Care For You."

"It was time to open up a little bit more—not be quite so reserved in my choice of songs that I wanted to record," LaMontagne explains. "I'm really very critical of myself and it's sort of a process of opening up. I felt like I was in the right space to show that side of myself."
