Freddie Highmore Takes a "Miscellaneous" Role
Teenager Freddie Highmore has been trafficing in whimsical fare like The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Golden Compass, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory recently. He's about to break type—just slightly—and appear in the feature film adaptation of The Beautiful Miscellaneous, based on the novel of the same name. The book was written by Dominic Smith. In the film, Highmore will play teenager Nathan Nelson, who emerges from a coma with heightened senses, an improved memory, and a case of synesthesia, which is what happens when words, shapes, and numbers transform into colors and smells. This fantastic sensory gift of sorts causes his father to send him away. Southpaw Entertainment and 821 Entertainment Group will produce the picture.
