Samuel L. Jackson, Dennis Hopper Try Their Hands at TV

Lots of actors are currently making the switch to the small screen this year, and two Hollywood heavyweights are getting in on the action, albeit in different ways.

Samuel L. Jackson's year just got busier. The consistently working actor has just cinched a first look deal with CBS Paramount, which will allow the star to scout, develop, and produce TV projects. Jackson will not likely appear in any of these shows. The actor is reportedly a diehard TV fan, which prompted the deal.

Meanwhile, Dennis Hopper will star in Crash, a 13-episode series for the Starz Network that is based on the Oscar-winning film of the same name, which picked up the Best Picture statue for its examination of racial relations and tensions in Los Angeles. The show begins shooting this month and will begin airing this October. It is the first series for the Starz network, with several others being planned. Do we have a new HBO on our hands with Starz? Time will certainly tell.
