Judd Apatow Hires "Funny People"
It's pretty much a given nowadays that any comedy by wunderkind Judd Apatow will feature starring roles for Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill. That's certainly the case for Apatow's upcoming Funny People. In addition to employing his old standbys, the director/producer has reached outside of his actor comfort zone, hiring Eric Bana, Jason Schwartzman, and Adam Sandler for the film.Apatow's wife Leslie Mann will also star. The movie is about stand up comedy, focusing on a comedian that has a near-death experience and the aftermath.
Interestingly, Bana's career began in stand up and sketch comedy in his native Australia before he took off as a more dramatic leading man in the US.
Universal will release Funny People next summer.
