Half of the Dresden Dolls Goes Solo
Amanda Palmer, the singer/keyboardist half of The Dresden Dolls, has confirmed the release of her first solo record. Due out September 16 through Roadrunner, Who Killed Amanda Palmer features collaborations with Annie Clark of St. Vincent (a Carousel cover, "What's the Use of Wonderin'"), East Bay Ray of the Dead Kennedys, cellist Zoe Keating, and string arranger/composer Paul Buckmaster. Oh, and Ben Folds produced it. On the design side, noted graphic novelist Neil Gaiman (see the landmark Sandman series) contributed liner notes. He and Palmer are also working on a book of photography for the release.Palmer will spend the rest of the summer bouncing between solo gigs and festival dates with the Dresden Dolls. A full solo tour is expected this fall.
