Cannibalism story still resonates
"Alive" Story Revisited as a Documentary
In 1993, the story of the 1972 Urguayan rugby team's fight to survive, including cannibalizing the bodies of their dead teammates after a horrific plane crash into the Andes Mountains, returned to public consciousness thanks to the movie dramatization Alive. The fascinating subject is being revisited yet again, this time in the form of Stranded: I've Come From a Plane That Crashed in the Mountains, a documentary to be released by Zeitgeist Films. The film will be a Spanish-language documentary featuring interviews with the survivors. It will find them returning to the site of the deadly crash and revisiting their controversial decision to feed on the remains of their lost friends. The film will be initially released in New York on October 22, followed by a national rollout.
