Bon Jovi Confirm Free Central Park Show
Mayor Michael Bloomberg revealed one of New York City's biggest summer shows yesterday: a Central Park bill headlined by none other than Bon Jovi. Set to take place on July 12 to coincide with Major League Baseball's All-Star Game, the concert will start at 8 p.m. on the park's Great Lawn. While the event is free, fans have to pick up one of 60,000 tickets to see the show. They'll be available at baseball parks throughout the area (everything from Shea and Yankee Stadium to the homes of the Brooklyn Cyclones and Staten Island Yankees), MLB.com, and various giveaway promotions."Our interest is in keeping the park open and making sure at the same time that we protect the investment the public has made," Bloomberg explained.
"We've gotten the chance to bookend what is the most successful tour in the world this year with a free concert for anyone in New York," Jon Bon Jovi added in a statement. "I just traveled the world again, and New York is still the greatest city in the world."
