Ian Curtis' Gravestone Robbed
One couldn't imagine the story of Joy Division's haunted frontman, Ian Curtis, could get any worse. But, it has. BBC Manchester has reported that the singer's headstone, which famously—and simply—read, "Ian Curtis. 18-5-80. Love Will Tear Us Apart." has been stolen. The crime allegedly took place at the Macclesfield Cemetery between the afternoon of Tuesday, July 1 and Wednesday morning, July 2.Police informed BBC that, "There is no CCTV in the area and there are no apparent leads as to who is responsible for the theft. This is a very unusual theft and I am confident that someone locally will have knowledge about who is responsible or where the memorial stone is at present."
If you have any information regarding the theft, you can contact the Cheshire police here.
