Tom Cruise to Get Salty?

A team of producers and director Phillip Noyce are developing Edwin A. Salt for Columbia Pictures into a starring vehicle for Tom Cruise.

In this treason and espionage thriller, Cruise would play a CIA employee who is wrongly accused of being a Russian spy and has to jump through political hoops, including avoiding capture, to clear his good name.

While Cruise hasn't firmly committed to star in the film yet, he has remained attached to the project though it has gone through script changes and different possible directors. The film does not have a production start date as of yet.
