Quentin Tarantino is an "Inglorious Bastard"

Director Quentin Tarantino is getting back to work. He's currently finalizing the screenplay for Inglorious Bastards, a World War II action tale focusing on soldiers behind enemy lines. The film will be co-financed by longtime Tarantino backers the Weinstein Brothers, who also produced Tarantino's watershed film, Pulp Fiction.

The film will begin shooting in October, with the majority of the shoot taking place in Europe on a fast-tracked schedule so that it can be presented at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2009. Brad Pitt's name has been tossed around as a possible star, although nothing has been confirmed. Additionally, despite the fact that Tarantino acquired the rights to the title and to a remake, this film reportedly has an original script and is not a remake of the 1978 picture of the same name.
