Johnny Cash Remix LP Due Out This Fall

Johnny Cash's son, John Carter Cash, has green-lit Johnny Cash Remixed. Due out October 14 through Compadre Records/Music World Music, the remix collection includes contributions from Snoop Dogg ("I Walk the Line," featuring his QDT collaborators Teddy Riley and DJ Quik), Pete Rock ("Folsom Prison Blues"), the Alabama 3 ("Leave That Junk Alone"), and Frank Sinatra remixer Philip Steir ("Get Rhythm").

"If you take your time to listen to it, country music is very similar to rap," Snoop Dogg told Billboard last year. "Johnny Cash is the one who stood out to me. I love his style, his swag, the songs he made."

"[My father] would have loved this remix record," Cash added in a recent interview, also with Billboard. "While it stays true to the original recordings, this CD touches on undiscovered ground. This is what my father was about: staying true to tradition while creating groundbreaking new music."

A Remixed documentary is currently in production. A deluxe vinyl version will also hit stores on September 23.
