Capturing their reunion tour
Live Police CD/DVD On the Way
According to an interview with Stewart Copeland on Billboard.com, The Police plan on releasing a CD/DVD document of their reunion tour later this year. The set features footage from two Argentina shows, filmed on December 1 and 2 of last year."Those rockin' Argentines—man, are they noisy," Copeland said. "It was a pretty exciting show."
Copeland's son, Jordan, also contributed a tour doc called "Better Than Therapy." Apparently he "gets right under our skins, the little bastard, and his analysis of the group is better than any I've seen … it's unbelievable to see the early rehearsals compared to where we're at now. Some of them were so raw we had to take them out, some of the scenes. But he's still got the nitty gritty there, with us each grappling with the reality of life in the band again."
As for whether or not another reunion's in the cards over the coming years, Copeland was quick to say the trio's time together was a "very finite thing." The same goes for any future recordings. While Copeland, Sting, and guitarist Andy Summer tried tracking a new version of the 1979 song "Truth Hits Everybody" (off of Outlandos d'Amour), the session hit a dead end quickly.
"We went into the studio, laid down a backing track and immediately disagreed about where to go with it," Copeland explained. "And since there wasn't an audience cheering at us ... it just kind of withered on the vine."
