Lil Wayne Facing Lawsuit For Copyright Infringement

Abkco Music Inc.—a music publishing company that owns the rights to the Rolling Stones song "Play With Fire"—has filed a copyright infringement/unfair competition lawsuit against Lil Wayne, claiming his "Playing With Fire" cut is a clear derivative of the Stones track. The court papers point to such examples as the line "But you can't blame me if I set this stage on fire," a variation of Mick Jagger's famous "But don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire" lyric. Abkco adds that Lil Wayne's song uses "explicit, sexist and offensive" language, something the Stones did not approve or authorize.

Reps for Lil Wayne and his label Universal Music Group label have not commented on the case as of yet.
