Gyllenhaal's "Prince of Persia" bumped to 2010
"Prince" Jake Gyllenhaal Must Wait
Jake Gyllenhaal will have to wait a year or so to be a Prince. Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have bumped the release date for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time from June 2009 to Memorial Day weekend 2010.The powers that be take a film's release date seriously and plan for it quite carefully. In this case, those in charge moved the film's release so they could focus on post-production efforts, since the film requires extensive special effects to lend it a true fantasy feel. They're also banking on the film's franchise potential and want to be careful in staging the release. Filming of the picture, which is based on a best-selling video game, began last week in Morocco and will move to London shortly. Gyllenhaal will play the title character, with Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina also populating the film's cast.
