Partners with studio for first-look deal

    Gore Verbinski Goes Universal

Three-year first-look deals are all the rage between big name studios and directors. That's why it's not a "bioshock" that Gore Verbinski, director of of the hugely successful Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and its two sequels, has linked up with Universal Studios for such a deal.

Verbinski's forthcoming Bioshock, based on a video game about an underwater city dubbed Rapture, will be the first film of the deal. Verbinski will produce and direct the film.
