Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Readies NYC Annex
Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the opening of a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame annex in New York City today. It's the first of several planned locations that hope to expand the reach and income of the Cleveland-based museum. Manhattan's 25,000-square-foot version will be open on Mercer Street for a minimum of two years and include Bruce Springsteen's 1957 Chevy and numerous different site-specific exhibits including "New York Rocks," which will focus on such NYC artists as Billy Joel and David Byrne.According to Terry Stewart, the president and CEO of the museum, a Las Vegas annex will open soon as well, with a general entertainment focus as opposed to just rock music. A Middle East branch is expected in the near future too.
