Being courted for French spy remake
Tom Cruise, Tourist
Just days after it was announced that Tom Cruise was being swapped out of the title role in the upcoming re-gendered spy thriller Edwin A. Salt in favor of Angelina Jolie, the actor and father of Baby Suri is bouncing back. Cruise is negotiating to star as the title character in a remake of the 2005-released French spy drama The Tourist.Cruise has been eyeing the project, about an American tourist unknowingly recruited and used by a female Interpol Agent, for several weeks now. Spyglass Entertainment and Canal Plus will produce the film, which is completely independent of the George Clooney vehicle of the same name, also a spy thriller.
Another Cruise film, the World War II drama Valkyrie, which features the actor sporting an eye patch, has had its release date shifted around several times. It's now been confirmed that Valkyrie will be hitting theaters on December 26 of this year. MGM will release the picture.
