Judd Apatow to Fuse "Superbad" and "Pineapple Express"?

A crossover film that marries characters from two of producer Judd Apatow's most successful summer comedies may very well be in the works. A hybrid of last summer's Superbad and last weekend's The Pineapple Express is entirely possible, according to Pineapple Express star James Franco, who revealed the information in an interview with MTV.

Franco was quoted as saying, "Even before Superbad came out, I think the studio was trying to get them to write a sequel, but they really didn’t want to write a sequel. I guess the kids would go to college or something like that. And so, an answer to that was to do a crossover, an unprecedented crossover movie with two directors, Greg Motolla and David Gordon Green, each directing half of the movie and somehow these characters get together, which doesn’t make sense at all, but could work." Maybe Franco inhaled too much from his PE character Saul Silver's bong? Maybe not. Whatever the case, let's see if Apatow can make this concoction work.
