Wilco Announce New Album
Jeff Tweedy has pegged spring 2009 as the potential release date of Wilco's seventh full-length record. In an interview with the Albany-based radio station WAMC, he said, "[we're going to] allow ourselves a little bit more leeway in terms of sculpting the sound in the studio and doing overdubs and using the studio as another instrument. Last time around, it was more of a document." Tweedy went on to claim that he "kinda hate[s]" Wilco's previous LPs at the moment because "none of them are a statement that I would be comfortable making right now at this point in my life. They all served their purpose, and in that respect I'm proud of all of them … they just don't continue to mean the same things to me, and a new record is kind of where it's at."Wilco's current North American tour wraps up this weekend at San Francisco's first-ever Outside Lands Festival. Tweedy will then play four solo gigs in Spain through September 6.
