DreamWorks Ordering "Kung Fu Panda" Sequel

Jeffrey Katzenberg, the CEO of DreamWorks Animation, has indicated that the studio is in talks to create a sequel to Kung Fu Panda, which was a box office smash earlier this summer, pulling in over $550 million in worldwide revenue. A confirmed announcement on the sequel to the film, about a panda bear struggling to become a Kung Fu warrior, is expected in the next two months.

In other DreamWorks animation news, Katzenberg also said that the company expects to release at least one more sequel to 2005's Madagascar, a romp about wild animals who are transplanted from the jungle to the mean streets of NYC, which was also a runaway hit. The first sequel, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, is due in theaters on November 7. Dates of the second sequel have not been revealed. Comedian Bernie Mac, who passed away last week, has a role in the voice cast. Most of the original's voice cast, including Ben Stiller and Chris Rock, returned for this sequel.
