Casting unknowns in next film
The Coen Bros. Are Dead "Serious"
Joel Coen and brother Ethan Coen have cast a pair of relatively unknown actors in their next film, the dark comedy A Serious Man. Tony-nominated actor Michael Stuhlbarg, who has enjoyed a lengthy career in theater, will play a lead role in the film alongside Richard Kind, a veteran of television who enjoyed small screen success with roles in Spin City and Mad About You.Stuhlbarg and Kind will portray brothers in 1967. Stuhlbarg will tackle the part of Midwestern professor Larry Gopnik, who is dealing with his wife leaving him, and a socially awkward brother (Kind) who won't move out of his house. Shooting begins next month in Minneapolis. Working Title will produce, with Focus Features distributing the picture.
