Audrey Tatou, Alessandro Nivola Go Coco

French actress Audrey Tatou and American actor Alessandro Nivola will both star in Coco Avant Chanel, a French film based on the life of iconic French fashion deisgner Coco Chanel. Tatou will portray the divine Miss Chanel, with Nivola on board to play Arthur Chapel, who was a significant figure in Chanel's life.

Nivola is rumored to be the sole American cast member in the film and is diligently learning French to prepare for the role of Chapel. Chapel was a polo player who sponsored Chanel and helped her open her first store, in addition to influencing her designs, namely her masculine-inspired suits. Chapel was killed in car crash, an event which had a major impact on Chanel's life.

The film begins production in September, with Films Distribution Mercure financing the picture. A domestic distributor has yet to be secured.
