Da Brat Receives Three-Year Assault Sentence

A Georgia judge sentenced Shawntae Harris (better known as Da Brat) to three years in prison on Friday for hitting a nightclub hostess in the head with a rum bottle last fall. The 34-year-old rapper and Atlanta Falcons cheerleader Shayla Stevens reportedly bumped into one another at a private Halloween party in the Tucker club Studio 72. Stevens had walked away from the altercation, only to be hit by the bottle seconds later. She now has a permanent facial scar from the fight.

In addition to her prison time, Harris' aggravated assault sentence includes 200 hours of community service, a mental evaluation, anger management classes, and substance abuse treatment.
