Steven Spielberg Still a "Tintin" Man
Steven Spielberg is still up for directing Tintin for DreamWorks. This film would be the first installment of a planned trilogy. However, Brussels' Herge Studio, which manages the rights to the famed comic strip character, said that Peter Jackson, a director of Spielberg's caliber, had been selected to helm the film. Despite such a statement, representatives for both Spielberg and Jackson state that Spielberg remains the director for the first film, with Jackson serving as a producer. Additionally, Jackson remains the director attached to the second film in the trilogy. The first Tintin film will be based on the books The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure, both of which were written in the early 1940s. The film will be animated with motion-capture technology. Thomas Sangster will star as Tintin.
