Michael Jackson Rumors Swirl Around the MTV Awards

With MTV's annual Video Music Awards a little more than a week away (Sunday, September 7), rumors continue to circulate about the show's surprise guests. First up: the idea that Britney Spears will appear to make up for her disastrous performance last year. While she has appeared in some promos for the show, Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, played down the claim, saying in a statement, "Contrary to media reports, Britney was never slated to perform at this year's VMAs. She's in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well, and her focus remains on the studio."

Another rumor that's popped up is Michael Jackson presenting an award alongside his sister Janet. His reps haven't commented yet, although it's widely known that he's still working on a comeback album with will.i.am.
