    Aaron Sorkin Joins Facebook

But not for social networking purposes

    Aaron Sorkin Joins Facebook

Noted scribe Aaron Sorkin, whose recent achievements include the screenplay for Charlie Wilson's War and creating the presidentially-focused TV show The West Wing, is currently negotiating to write an as-yet untitled film about the founder of Facebook for Columbia Pictures.

Sorkin actually revealed the news in an unconventional way, by signing up for his own Facebook account, which he claims he did for research purposes. He also asked for Facebook users to provide him with any special stories they may have relating directly to the site, also for research reasons.

Facebook founder and Harvard grad Mark Zuckerberg has cut a controversial figure over the years, having been accused of intellectual theft by former classmates who claim that the site was their idea and that he stole it. Facebook took off when Zuckerberg opened up membership to non-college and non-Ivy League students. Today, Facebook has over 100 million registered users worldwide and Zuckerberg refuses to sell the site, despite receiving several lucrative offers to take the web property off his hands.
