Taylor Hackford to Take on Tennessee Williams

Director Taylor Hackford, the man behind the camera for the biopic Ray, is returning to the medium again. He is set to direct Tenn, a drama about the life and times of famed playwright Tennessee Williams. Williams often used his personal issues and problems as inspiration for his written works, such as The Glass Menagerie and A Streetcar Named Desire.

The film will center on Williams' upbringing by a miserable father as well as his depression and struggles with sexuality. It will also probe how the writer dealt with his sister, who was lobotomized and institutionalized, leading him to write Menagerie.

Infinity Media is developing the film, with Dan Halsted on board to produce. No production dates have been determined. Hackford just finished The Love Ranch, which features his wife, Helen Mirren.
